History

Soft-tip darting is one of the fastest growing recreational sports of the last two decades. As members of the Amusement and Music Operators Association (AMOA), the NDA's founders saw the benefit that organized league play had on other sports and created the AMOA-National Dart Association to provide benefits to coin-operated vending companies and their players that would promote the sport by increasing the player base.

The AMOA and the NDA's manufacturer sponsors were early supporters of the association and provided needed exposure and input. Early tasks for the NDA included creating standard rules of play, national tournaments, a player-founded publication and establishing an administrative office.

Today, the AMOA-National Dart Association is the official sanctioning body for the sport of soft-tip electronic darting. The emphasis of the trade association is the promotion, recognition and standardization of league play. The NDA is now an international organization with members from eight countries. Over 56,000 players are sanctioned annually, participating in dart leagues run by our members in over 10,000 locations worldwide. The NDA hosts the world's largest international soft-tip dart tournament competition in the world.

Led by President Judy Mehle and Executive Director Leslie Murphy, the NDA is a not-for-profit organization with a staff of professional program administrators at the international headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana. The mission of the NDA is to be the acknowledged leader and representative of electronic darting.
