INDIANAPOLIS –The AMOA–National Dart Association held its first two of three regional soft-tip dart tournaments in Madison, Wis., Dec. 6-8, and Phoenix, Dec. 13-15. Seventeen NDA operators sent 196 players to the Madison tournament and 133 players from seven NDA operators attended Phoenix, all competing for $15,000 in prize money at each location.
The first year for NDA Regional Tournaments to be held, players and operators were enthusiastic about the extra fun and affordable opportunities to compete and win.
Operators participating in the Madison and Phoenix tournaments purchased 253 and 207 event entry certificates respectively. Each competition featured Open Singles Combo, Doubles Cricket, Doubles ’01 and Mixed Triples Combo offering varying levels of play based on player skill ratings. Prizes were awarded in each event level providing a fair and competitive environment for all skill sets.
“Through the creation of these Regional Tournaments, we wanted to give players another opportunity to compete and get the most out of their NDA-sanctioned status at a local level,” said NDA President Judy Mehle. “We are overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the two tournaments so far, and hope to have just as great an experience at the final tournament in Florida.”
These Regional Tournaments provide an additional opportunity to the annual international tournament, Team Dart, for players who are unable to attend or wish to compete in more events. Regional Tournament participants must be an NDA-sanctioned player, and are required to have played a minimum of 48 league games within the qualifying period.
For those wishing to compete in Team Dart, the Regional Tournaments also have the added benefit of additional game practice and offer players the opportunity to win entries to the annual international tournament held at Bally’s Las Vegas, April 25-May 3.
NDA operator members interested in the Regional Tournaments can still send sanctioned players to the final tournament in Kissimmee, Fla., Feb. 14-16. More information about the Regional Tournaments and Team Dart 2014 can be found by visiting www.NDAdarts.com.
