The AMOA-NDA's Director of Communication, Andrea Cowan, has been named as the Rising STAR of 2010 by the Indiana Society of Association Executives (ISAE).
The Rising STAR award is granted based on several criteria. To be considered for the award, individuals must be nominated and have one to three years of service in the association industry. The Rising STAR must show exemplary contributions to the employing organization, dedication and innovation of service to the association’s members and must participate in professional development and educational activities.
“Andrea is a tremendous asset to the NDA,” said NDA Executive Director, Leslie Murphy, CAE. “Relatively new to the association industry, Andrea has quickly learned the ins and outs of the organization and successfully implemented numerous communication projects. She fully deserves the recognition for her hard work, dedication and talent,” said Murphy.
Cowan has served as the NDA’s Director of Communication for nearly two years. In her time with the NDA, she has directed numerous projects including promotional plans for Team Dart, social media outreach, annual communication plans and, most recently, the design and launch of two member e-newsletters (E-Member Update and OnTarget).
On a daily basis, Cowan oversees all NDA communication efforts. She serves at the editor of ThrowLines, the NDA’s official player magazine, and coordinates the layout and design of all NDA materials including posters, signage and advertisements.
Under Cowan’s leadership, the NDA’s official Facebook page has quickly gained a following of nearly 3,500 fans. The OnTarget player e-newsletter has increased the player e-mail list by 20% and was named the Best Association Newsletter by ISAE in 2010.
Cowan has served as a volunteer for ISAE and attended numerous professional development events in order to increase her knowledge base and to stay up-to-date on the latest trends of communication tactics.
Rising STAR nominees were evaluated by ISAE’s Executive Committee and announced at the annual STAR Awards event held on Dec. 2 in Indianapolis.
